McAlhany Stews

Holley's Hash (in honor of Martha Holley - Grammy's friend)

 

Ingredients

    1 1/2 - 2 pounds ground chuck or ground round

    2 cans tomatoes

    1 small can tomato sauce

    4 stalks celery, diced

    1 large onion, diced

    4 carrots, diced

    1 cup barley (or rice or small noodles)

 

Instructions

    1. Brown meat in large dutch oven.

    2. Add all ingredients and bring to a boil.

    3. Reduce heat and cover. Cook for about 2 hours.

        *** If it gets too thick, add water.

    4. Salt and pepper to taste.
