Caramel Nut Crunch

 

Ingredients

    1/2 cup packed brown sugar

    1/2 cup dark corn syrup

    1/4 cup margarine or butter

    1/2 tsp salt

    6 cups Cheerios cereal

    1 cup pecan halves, walnut halves, or peanuts

    1/2 cup slivered almonds

 

Instructions

    1. Heat oven to 325.

    2. Spray jelly roll pan (15x10x1 inch) with Pam, or butter well.

    3. Heat brown sugar, corn syrup, margarine, and salt in 3-quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved (about 5 minutes).

    4. Remove from heat and stir in cereal and nuts until well coated.

    5. Spread in pan.

    6. Bake 15 minutes.

    7. Cool until slightly firm, 5 to 7 minutes.

    8. Loosen with metal spatula. Let stand until firm - about 1 hour.

    9. Store in covered container.

 

Yield

    Makes about 8 cups.

 

Graham Cracker Pralines

 

Ingredients

    24 whole graham crackers (or split in half)

    1 cup margarine

    1 cup brown sugar

    1 cup pecans

 

Instructions

    1. Line cookie sheet with aluminum foil.

    2. Place graham crackers on foil.

    3. Heat margarine and sugar to boiling.

    4. Cook 2 minutes slowly; then add pecans.

    5. Pour sugar mixture over crackers.

    6. Cook at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Cool before cutting.

 

For a yummy treat, pour chocolate chips over the graham crackers before taking out of oven. Let the chocolate melt, then cool.

 

Susan Powter's Brownies

 

Ingredients

    2/3 cups flour

    1 1/2 cups cocoa

    1 tsp oil

    6 eggs

    1 1/4 cups sugar

    3/4 cups applesauce

    1/2 cups yogurt

    1 tsp. vanilla

 

Instructions

    Mix all ingredients.

    Pour in 9-inch pan (greased)

    Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

Cheese in Wiener Crescents

 

    1. Slit wieners to within 1/2 inh of ends; insert strips of Cheddar cheese.

    2. Place weiners on shortest side of Pillsbury Crescent dough triangle; wrap up.

    3. Place cheese-side up on cookie sheet.

    4. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Sausage Balls

 

Ingredients

    1 lb mild ground sausage

    2 cups Bisquick

    1/2 lb grated sharp cheddar cheese

 

Instructions

    1. Mix all ingredients together with hands.

    2. Roll out the size of small pecan.

    3. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes.

Candied Peanuts

 

Ingredients

    1 cup sugar   

    1/2 cup water

    3 cups peanuts (12 oz)

Instructions

    1. Combine water and sugar in pot. Bring to boil.

    2. Pour in peanuts.

    3. Stir in slow boil until all moisture is gone.

    4. Cover a cookie sheet with foil and place nuts on it.

    5. Sprinkle generously with salt.

    6. Bake at 300 degrees for 12 - 20 minutes. Stir occasionally.
